Pet birds ? the Scotch fancy canary

Scotch fancy canaryThe Pure Blood Scottish Canary (Scotch Fancy Canary) is a native of Scotland, where it was raised in the first half of the nineteenth century and, since the beginning, has enjoyed a great popularity due to his hunched position.

It is a medium sized bird, reaching a length of approximately 17 cm. Its body is long, narrow and makes a curve with a crescent shape, convex at the top and concave to the bottom, with clean contours, starting from head to tail. The head is small, the neck is long, conical and thin, the shoulders are big and narrow. The tail is narrow, long, with feathers close together, it is bent continuing the curve from shoulders and back.

The food is rich in seed or seeds mixture. It is completed with vegetables, fruits and vitamins. Birds are lively, sociable and friendly. They do not bear to live in cold and wet environments. They need to be treated carefully, kept in a roomy cage which is clean and built at a distance of 1-2 m in height, in a warm and bright place.

Pure Blood Scottish Canary is valued for its special hunched position that sets it apart from all other canary species.? They are used for various exhibitions and competitions of canaries. Those birds that form the curve from the head to tail as close to the crescent as possible are considered the best examples. Once, this canary was very popular but, unfortunately today has become very rare and almost disappeared.
